CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION RULES

  1. A Competition Committee is to be formed annually at the A.G.M.
     
  2. The Singles, Under 25s Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours Championships shall be conducted in accordance with laws of the WBB and Bowls England and shall be open to respective Member Counties in each Competition.
     
  3. Those eligible for each competition shall be the respective County Champions for that year. In the event of unavailability, or the same person qualifying for more than one Championship, ONE substitute may be used in the Pairs and Triples Championships and TWO substitutes may be used in the Fours Championship.
    If any of the County Champions qualify for more than one event or (for one reason or another) are unable to take part in the H.C.B.A. Championships, the losing  finalists may substitute on their behalf.
    In this case ONE substitute may be used in the Pairs and Triples Championships and TWO substitutes may be used in the Fours Championship.
    N.B. Substitutes must not have played for another team during the County Rounds of the National Championships.
    Should the Singles Winner or the Under 25s Singles Winner qualify for more than one Championship he MUST play in the Singles Championship or the Under 25s Singles Championship.

     
  4. The Preliminary Rounds are part of the Championship Competition and therefore these rules apply throughout.
     
  5. The draw for each Championship will be made at the Association Management Meeting held annually in October of each year, so that each County has time to include it in their respective Yearbook.
     
  6. Entry Fees, if deemed necessary, will also be set at the October Meeting.
     
  7. As soon as they are known all entrants must be nominated by their respective Counties to the Association Competition Secretary.
     
  8. Preliminary Rounds: With the exception of the Singles, and the Under 25s Singles, a preliminary round will be played prior to Finals Day. These games must be completed by September 30th. The first named player, being the Challenger, must offer his Opponent the choice of TWO dates on which to play, one of which must be a weekend. The Challenger shall have the choice of green. Where the mileage exceeds 160 miles round trip club to club (Google maps suggested route - quickest in time), matches will be played on a neutral green midway between the two clubs, unless mutually agreed.
    If green fees are payable at the neutral venue, they will be shared by both teams. All results of these matches must be sent to the Association Competition Secretary within 24 hours of the completion of the game.

     
  9. Finals Day: This will be held in May on the Sunday of (Week 19) of the following year and will include the Quarter Finals of the Singles and the Under 25s Singles, together with the Semi-Finals and Finals of the Singles, Under 25s Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours Championships.
    The Finals Day will be held at Old Coulsdon BC. HCBA will provide the necessary Umpires to oversee the Championships.
  10. At the conclusion of the finals, annually agreed prizes will be presented by the Chairman.

CLARIFICATION ON TRAVEL AND MATCH DRESS.

      Travel arrangements and dress, are the responsibilty of the individuals concerned. 

      Match Dress, both in the early rounds and Finals, shall be County playing dress, as stipulated by the         respective Counties.

      Food will be available on Finals day.
