For Richard Heathman’s first match as Chairmen we visited Popes Mead in Sussex, where we were made very welcome to play against the club as part of their Centenary celebrations. We were able to play most of the match in sunshine, the promised shower coming during the meal at the end!

Popes Mead club was originally in the centre of Crawley, and having moved some years ago as a result of property development now has excellent modern premises on the edge of town.

The Home Counties won the match 152 shots – 102, the top rink being that from Surrey (Peter Duncan, Terry Foote, Roger Lanham and Mick Gray).
The other rink results were;

Buckinghamshire won 25 – 17
Kent lost 18 – 20
Middlesex won 29 – 14
Oxfordshire won 21 – 18
Sussex won 27 – 18.

In June we have two matches to look forward to, against Eastern Counties and the Chairman’s County, the Royal County of Berkshire.
